💕 February 💕 3 Reasons to Love This Month & How!
But first…happy (belated) Valentine’s Day! I’m getting this post out late because yesterday was busy–clients, online work, training run with my husband (PS-did I mention he’s running his first FULL marathon in Nashville as a StJude Hero?? If you would show him some love here!), then we had a Valentine’s date at our local business after hours event. It was my first time there as an official small business (romantic I know). I’m pretty sure I’m the smallest of them all. Ha! Some days I’m sure I don’t know what the heck I’m doing! Anyway…V-Day feels a little weird falling on a Tuesday… But anyday is a good day for pizza. AMIRIGHT?? (Ps-I actually ate a burger for my Vday dinner!)
Today I wanna talk about l-o-v-e. Why? Because it’s (was) February 14th and everyone talks about love. Depending on which side you’re on you could be in camp #IHATEALLTHINGSHEART or #LIFEISROSESANDHEARTS 😉 Anywho….. Let’s take a walk down memory lane for a sec…here’s my heart summed up in one photo ( I know you all thought it was the first photo. Cmon now…)
Now let’s dive real deep into memory lane…Y’all remember way back in the day when you were sitting in class and suddenly some of the cool kids were waltzing up into your classroom passing out red and white carnations with sappy love notes to various beloveds?
Yeah. I wasn’t one of them. Ever.
I wasn’t active in the school’s politics, cook-kid’s club or lucky recipient of pastel colored petals with a cute love note attached.
You may be thinking at this point, what does this have to do with running, fitness or anything else here?
Well, I’ll tell you: everything.
Running saved me from a life of severe self-hate, insecurity and dark depression. (To clarify the Lord Jesus saved my soul. The gift of running helped carry me forward. Just so the record is clear. ) February used to be a real drag for my heart. And it is still that way for so many hearts out there. I was that forlorn ‘why me?‘ girl who felt sorry for herself. I allowed myself to be miserable.
Praise God I am NO longer that woman! I am a married woman now, yes. However, I became this new woman before I met my husband. (if you’ve followed my blog since the beginning–think Flying Feet In Faith–then you know!) I began running out of heartache and pain. I just got fed up, ticked off and frustrated and took off down the road.
Okay, I feel like I really need to get on with the point here…
3 Reasons You Should Love February & How (married or not)
- Your heart. ‘Nuff said. Everyone’s all crazy hearts during this month. This is the perfect opportunity to focus on yours. Your heart needs you to love. To care deeply. To embrace the world. It needs you to eat well, run long and seek adventure. It needs you to hug without reservation. It needs you to give passionately. You want to live a long life? Start living now with a full herat.
- Others hearts. This is the perfect time to show others how much you care. While I believe the entire year is the right time to love on others this is a great time to focus on giving back. Send a sweet Valentine’s Day card to a friend and/or family member who means the world to you. Volunteer at your local shelter or church. Bake some cookies for your neighbors. Just give back. Invest in the lives of others. You will not regret it.
- Take this loving opportunity to promise yourself a lifetime of adventure starting now. The most romantic thing you could experience is the romance of adventure. Take the sexual aspect out of romance and begin to see it for its true definition.
ro·mance rōˈmans,ˈrōˌmans/ noun
- a quality or feeling of mystery, excitement, and remoteness from everyday life.
“the beauty and romance of the night”
synonyms: mystery, glamour, excitement, exoticism, mystique
Read those synonyms and apply them to your new adventure. Starting now…
