#MarathonMonday Food + HOTTTTT
morningafternoon (kinda got sidetracked…) from western NC! If you read my late night post yesterday than you already kind of know where I am for the marathon as far as physically and mentally. So I’ll just give you some fun little details..
Day one of eating a higher protein, lower carb diet is basically killing me…
#inthenameofthemarathon so melodramatic I know.
So, I have a new appreciation for all of you attempting the whole “low-carb” nonsense…
Anyway. So check this out (Thanks to Latoya for forwarding this info and for praying for me. <3 ):
I’ve pretty much given up checking the weather forecast because each time I do the predicted temperature goes up another degree. Congratulations Rock’n’Roll Nashville…you picked the ONE day out of the next two weeks that’s predicted to be the hottest. Nashville’s forecast’s high today is 66* … Saturday is 89*. Might as well read 899999*.
I have no clue why I always come back to Nashville for my “A” race…It’s notoriously humid and hot. I’m a glutton for punishment I suppose. As far as course support and atmosphere though Nashville is fantastic. Next year I’m considering Richmond. Yes, I’m running Boston in 2018 (finally!) but Richmond looks like a fun, fast and cool race. I’ve been running hilly, hot and humid marathons the past few years… I think it’s time I pick a course for speed. I’m curious to see what I can potentially pull out of myself in the future.
Anyway…I’m now headed to the gym to run in long sleeves, pants and a jacket on the treadmill to help get heat acclimated. I’ve also been running more towards the afternoon with most of training runs this cycle in long sleeves as well. Then, I would head home for a hot shower with a heater on (created a nice hot and humid environment). Drove my husband crazy but I told him: #InTheNameOfTheMarathon !!!!!!!!!
Will it work? I dunno. But, sure it beats being surprised with heat on race day.
Do you pick your marathon (or other distance) races based on speed, spectators, fun factors or something else??
run pink. (run hot.)

The words “I am” are potent words; be careful what you hitch them to. The thing you’re claiming has a way of reaching back and claiming you. – A. L. Kitselman
